Hey, I’m Teacher Brittany and I am so passionate about empowering kids & adults (age 10+) to make their own music on guitar or ukulele: to strum, to pick, to sing their favorite tunes, and even to write their own songs. I specialize in teaching basic-to-advanced acoustic rhythm, including folk, pop, rock and bluegrass music, with an emphasis on scales, riffs, finger-picking, and singing while strumming (if the student enjoys that).
In addition to the technical skill of playing an instrument, it's my deepest intention to impart to my students positive self-talk and pride in their work. Every lesson is a chance to build the lifelong skills of persistence, self-coaching through difficulties, and the habit of practice. When I see personal growth in my students, it is truly one of the most rewarding feelings! It’s even more exciting to me when my students realize their own ability to strengthen and change!
I live in a studio and teach all my lessons via Zoom. I'm an expert at creating a fun, hands-on experience, despite the classic Zoom sound delay, and I've even coached beginning students to the point of strumming confidently without even meeting them in person.
As Cat Stevens does, I too let music you take you where your heart wants to go. Our lessons will consist of tuning, knowing the parts of your instrument, and always warming up on scales. The songs we play will be mostly up to you! I love to let my students select the music that excites them most. Leave it to me to tailor the difficulty level for where the student is at in their journey.

I specialize in teaching basic-to-advanced acoustic rhythm, including folk, pop, rock and bluegrass music, with an emphasis on finger-style, singing (if the student enjoys that) and strumming.
In addition to the technical skill, it's my deepest intention to impart positive self-talk to my students and pride in their work. I host a quarterly Student Showcase for my in-person students to share their work in front of the other students and their families (Zoom sharings take place once or twice a year). These are my favorite days of the year because the students just shine. Every week is a chance to build self confidence, pride and the habit of practice at something that is truly challenging and so rewarding!
Lessons are over Zoom or in-person at Brittany’s residence – taking place on the front porch when weather is appropriate or in the air-purified music room with her rescue dog, Rainbow Dash.
As for COVID protocol, I am fully vaccinated and will continue to get boosted. We shall decide together about wearing masks based on the infection rate in the local area and your comfort level. Your safety and ease are of the utmost importance to me!
